Markdown versions of documentation pages are available by appending `.md` to page URLs; this page is available as [Markdown](https://swarms-finance.gitbook.io/swarms.finance-app/guide/create-a-swarm/swarm-roles-and-actions-custom.md). # Swarm Roles & Actions (Custom) (Custom Only) Create DAO Roles {% hint style="info" %} This feature is only available to [**CUSTOM** ](/swarms.finance-app/custom-dao-type/custom-features.md)type DAOs. {% endhint %} *6a) Create all the different roles that will make up your DAO.* Roles are what allow Swarm members to create proposals and vote over proposals- Select which roles can propose and vote over what. Later, when you add members to your Swarm, you will also select which Role they have. If new members are ever to be voted into the Swarm, the Swarm must also vote on which Role that member has. ## How to Create a new Role At the bottom of the Create Swarm Roles page, simply type in a new role name and add it to your list of roles.

1. Fill out a new role by giving it a name and click "Create New Role" {% hint style="info" %} Don't forget to set each roles permissions! (See below) {% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %} You can also create Custom actions on this screen- Expand a role and scroll to the bottom and select "Add Custom Action" (See Below). Custom Actions work just like any other action- Select which roles can propose and vote over any new custom actions you create. {% endhint %} ## Creating a Custom Action Custom type DAOs can also create Custom actions and assign them to roles

1. At the bottom of any Role's permission list, click "Add Custom Action" 2. Give the new action a Name and Add it Once a Custom Action is created, all roles by default can Vote and Propose the new Custom Action- Make sure you visit each role and update it's permissions for the new Custom Action.
